StudioBinder alternatives compared job by job: call sheets, scripts, budgets, client quotes and photo shoots, with sourced prices for seven tools in 2026.

By the CreativeBase team · Updated · 7 min read

The best StudioBinder alternatives depend on what you are missing. Need the money and the client side too? CreativeBase. Only better call sheets? SetHero. Script to call sheet for less? Studiovity. And if you live in breakdowns, stripboards and storyboards, StudioBinder is still the right tool, so keep it.

In short: StudioBinder is built for the script. If your jobs are commercials, music videos, brand content, photo shoots or events, the best StudioBinder alternative is the one that also handles the budget, the client quote, crew paperwork and the invoice. That is CreativeBase. For scripted work on a budget, look at Studiovity, Celtx or Yamdu.

We make CreativeBase, so read the order with that in mind. Every competitor price and feature here was checked on that company's own website on October 3, 2026, and is linked. If we could not verify something, we left it out.

How we ranked them

We ranked for commercials, music videos, brand content, photo shoots and events, made by anyone from a director running their own jobs to a production company running many at once. Five things counted:

  1. How much of the job the tool runs without a second tool: the pitch, prep, the shoot, post and the money.
  2. Cost as you grow. Per-project and per-seat pricing adds up across 30 productions a year.
  3. Photo support. A real photo production, or a film call sheet with a new title.
  4. The phone. What crew and clients can do from one on the day.
  5. The client. Can they approve a quote or review a cut without an account or an email chain?

If you write scripts, flip the order: Studiovity, Celtx, Yamdu and StudioBinder itself move up.

1. CreativeBase

Best for: production teams who want the pitch, the budget, the crew, the client and the money in one place, across every production at once.

Price: one plan, priced on a short call. Invited people use it free. After the demo, your first production can be free, with no end date.

2. SetHero

Best for: coordinators and producers who want the best call sheet and nothing else.

SetHero's site lists a call sheet builder, publishing and tracking, contact management and production reports, sent by text, email and PDF, with an export from Movie Magic Scheduling. On its own StudioBinder comparison it says writers who need scripts and breakdowns are better served by StudioBinder, and it has no shot lists or storyboards.

Price (pricing, selector at 5 projects a year): Starter $19 a month (30 people, 4 days per project), Pro $49 (65 people, 8 days), Studio $129 (125 people, 12 days). Yearly saves 25%. First project free, up to 75 cast and crew and 5 shooting days.

Trade-off: no budget, quote or invoice. More in SetHero alternatives.

3. Studiovity

Best for: teams who want script, breakdown, schedule and call sheet in one low-cost plan.

Studiovity's pricing page lists, for $30 a month billed monthly with 2 team members: AI screenwriting, AI storyboarding, AI script breakdown, scheduling, a call sheet generator, film budgeting, shot lists, day out of days, and apps on iOS, Android and web.

Trade-off: it covers StudioBinder's scripted ground for less, with native apps. Its pricing page lists no client quotes or invoicing, and nothing specific to photo shoots.

4. Celtx

Best for: writers and writer-directors who also plan the shoot.

On Celtx's pricing page, production planning (breakdown, cast and crew, catalog, schedule, budget, call sheets, production reports) is in the Team plan and an add-on on Writer Pro. Writer is $11.24 a month, Writer Pro $18.74 and Team $44.99 for up to 3 members, all billed yearly. Free plan with one project, and a 7-day trial of paid features.

Trade-off: for a music video with no screenplay, you pay for writing tools you will not open.

5. Yamdu

Best for: scripted productions with several departments, including time cards.

Yamdu's pricing page lists script import and breakdown, scheduling, a call sheet builder, budgeting, cast and crew management, shot list and storyboard, time cards, and iOS and Android apps. Flex is $45 a month for 1 user and 1 project, with extra projects at $45 and extra users at $22. Studio is $199 a month, billed annually, for 10 users and unlimited projects.

Trade-off: Flex charges per project. A company running 20 short jobs a year should look at Studio.

6. Saturation

Best for: producers whose main pain is the budget, actuals and expenses.

Saturation lists AICP, film and TV templates, fringes and contingency, actualizing, cost reports, purchase orders, QuickBooks sync, bank sync through Plaid and an iOS receipt app. Creator is free for 1 project. Pro is $40 a month ($32 yearly); Team is $99 ($79 yearly) with 3 seats. Paid plans have a 14-day trial.

Trade-off: better accounting than anything else here, CreativeBase included. No call sheets listed, and its site does not describe client quotes. See Saturation alternative.

7. Assemble

Best for: in-house creative and agency teams who mostly need a timeline, tasks and file review.

Assemble offers a calendar and task lists, collaborative documents and asset feedback with annotations and versions. Guests are free and unlimited. Plan cards show Starter at $5 and Pro at $10 per teammate a month, with a 14-day trial; the comparison table on the same page shows $20 and $30, so confirm at checkout. Call sheets are a document template.

Trade-off: good at review and coordination, light on production paperwork and money.

Its paid plans as of October 3, 2026: Starter $29 a month (1 user, 50 GB), Indie $49 (2 users), Professional $99 (4 users), Agency $199 (10 users) and Studio $299 (20 users), with 15% off yearly. No free trial or refunds. No dedicated iOS or Android app, per its help center.

Why production companies leave StudioBinder

Usually it is the money. StudioBinder's plan list does not include budgets, client quotes or invoices; for budgets it points to a free Google Sheets template.

A two-day music video lives or dies on the quote, the deposit and the extra day the label asks for on Thursday. Put the budget in a spreadsheet, the call sheet in StudioBinder, the pipeline in a CRM and review in another app, and a company with ten productions running is reconciling four sets of names and numbers.

The second reason is fit. A product shoot with 14 looks has no script to break down. It needs a looks list, a usage fee and a selects gallery.
